Foods to avoid: Gatorade

Company: Quaker Oats. I couldn’t find Gatorade listed on Quaker Oat’s site, but on Gatorade’s Privacy Policy page it states “Quaker Oats Company is the maker of Gatorade thirst quencher.”
Fact: Gatorade, touted as a sports/fitness drink, contains high fructose corn syrup.

Foods to avoid: Kellogg’s brand products

Company: Kellogg’s
Fact: Products listed (and many not listed) contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, including their touted ‘healthy cereals’ like Kellogg’s Special K Cereal.
Including: Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars (the first ingredient is HFCS!), Pop Tarts, Eggo Waffles, French Toaster Sticks, Eggo Pancakes, almost all Kellogg’s cereals (I don’t think All Bran or Crispix contain HFCS).

Fact: In Quebec they call imitation maple syrup Sirop de poteau or “Pole Syrup”, implying it’s been made by tapping telephone poles.
Avoid all including: Aunt Jemima (Quaker Oats), Mrs. Butterworth’s (Pinnacle Foods), Eggo Syrup (Kellogg’s), Log Cabin, Smuckers, etc.

Foods to avoid: Hershey’s syrups

Fact: Contains high fructose corn syrup and a ton of other garbage.
Company: Hershey’s
Healthier alternatives: Torani syrups and sauces. All contain all-natural ingredients. Great for espresso drinks and the occasional flavored milk for Owen. I buy ours online from BevTech. Make sure if you order online to order the proper-sized pump, too!
