Foods to avoid
Friday April 13th, 2007 @ 2:48 pm by Melissa
In my ongoing effort towards a healthier life for me and my family, I’m avoiding purchasing certain foods. Ironically, most of the foods on this list are the ‘convenient’ foods parents purchase for their kids. I don’t know why the food industry thinks our kids should be loaded with heart-clogging fat and cholesterol and dangerous high fructose corn syrup. But maybe if enough of us get with it and stop buying their dangerous products, they’ll start looking for healthier processing alternatives.

Excerpt: But the report does say “there is a distinct likelihood that the increased consumption of HFCS in beverages may be linked to the increase in obesity.”Klein takes the biology a step further.“Fructose goes directly to the liver after you eat it and it stimulates the production of fat in the liver and can cause fatty liver, it can lead to fatty liver. Fatty liver we now know is a major problem associated with obesity.”“I’d never heard of fatty liver disease,” said Maggie Rodgers. But Rodgers’ liver became so scarred from non-alcoholic cirrhosis related to her obesity that she needed a liver transplant in 2004.That type of cirrhosis — called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) — is now the most common liver disease in the country, with five percent of people affected, the majority of them obese. Rodgers still can’t believe her liver was damaged because of her diet.In the time since the transplant, she’s lost 70 pounds. - Trans Fat now listed with Saturated Fat and Cholesterol on the Nutrition Facts Label

Hi Melissa,
WTG on taking care of your family’s health and getting off those processed ingredients!
In my experience, when I eat only whole, non-processed foods, and drink plenty of clean water each day, I feel fabulous. That processed gunk really drags me down, not to mention it helps me gain weight overnight (no joke!).
Keep up the great work! :)
