Foods to avoid: Gatorade
Monday April 16th, 2007 @ 10:00 pm by Melissa
- Company: Quaker Oats. I couldn’t find Gatorade listed on Quaker Oat’s site, but on Gatorade’s Privacy Policy page it states “Quaker Oats Company is the maker of Gatorade thirst quencher.”
- Fact: Gatorade, touted as a sports/fitness drink, contains high fructose corn syrup.
- Note: Gatorade’s switch to high-fructose corn syrup is fairly recent. As little as 2 years ago articles on the internet state it did not contain HFCS. However, the last bottle of Gatorade I purchased states otherwise. And by “last bottle of Gatorade I purchased” I mean I don’t intend to purchase their products again.
- Ingredients (Gatorade Rain, 32 Fl. Oz, Exp Date Oct 18 2007):
Water, sucrose syrup, high fructose corn syrup (glucose-fructose syrup), natural flavors, citric acid, salt sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, phosphoric acid, red 40, blue 1.
